About me

I’m Zisco Nueda—a solo travel educator and systems designer helping first-time travelers build confidence through preparation.

I Build Preparation Systems for First-Time Solo Travelers

For over two decades, I’ve been traveling solo across the world—not as an influencer documenting moments, but as someone methodically understanding what makes first-time solo travelers succeed.

I’ve learned that confidence isn’t fearlessness. It’s preparation.

My track record:

  • 35+ countries explored worldwide, with deepest expertise in Southeast Asia
  • 24+ years solo traveling (2001–2026)
  • 200+ nervous first-time travelers consulted through their preparation journey
  • Creator of the 60-Day Solo Travel Readiness System—a sequential framework that transforms anxiety into capability

What I discovered: The travelers who thrive aren’t the bravest. They’re the most prepared.

The Turning Point

My first solo trip to Thailand in 2001 was terrifying.

I overpaid for taxis. Couldn’t figure out the banking system. Spent the first three days in Bangkok wondering if I’d made a massive mistake.

But I learned something crucial that week: the travelers who looked confident weren’t braver than me. They just had better systems.

Twenty-four years of solo travel taught me one clear truth: the difference between travelers paralyzed by anxiety and travelers who actually book their flights isn’t courage. It’s preparation.

Around year five, after watching dozens of first-time travelers arrive in Chiang Mai where I was working remotely, I saw the pattern clearly:

The confident ones all shared the same trait—they had systems in place before they arrived.

✓ They knew their banking setup

✓ They had their safety framework decided

✓ They had chosen their app toolkit

✓ They had prepared, not just dreamed

That’s when I started developing what became the 60-Day Solo Travel Readiness System—a universal framework designed to transform nervousness into readiness through systematic planning.

The system works anywhere in the world. But I’ve spent two decades testing it specifically across Southeast Asia, where infrastructure challenges, cultural differences, and language barriers create the perfect environment to prove which preparation systems actually work.

Why I Built This Website

For years, I watched nervous first-time solo travelers struggle with the same barriers:

  • No clear starting point (what do I plan first?)
  • Overwhelming contradictory advice (everyone says something different)
  • Tech confusion (which apps actually matter?)
  • Safety anxiety without realistic frameworks
  • The feeling that maybe they’re not brave enough to do this

But the real barrier wasn’t courage. It was preparation systems.

So I created Solo Travel Ready in 2025 to close that gap.

Nervous first-timers deserve:

  • Clear, sequential guidance (not random tips)
  • Universal frameworks that work anywhere (with specific applications for each destination)
  • Practical systems (not inspiration)
  • Specific tools (not vague advice)
  • Honest talk about anxiety (not toxic positivity)
  • Preparation that builds actual capability (not just confidence theatre)

My Approach:

Solo Travel Ready is built on a dual-track system.

Universal Frameworks (Work Anywhere)

I teach foundational systems that apply to solo travel worldwide:

  • First-timer preparation frameworks
  • Safety and confidence-building systems
  • Communication and navigation technology
  • Booking, payments, and logistics

These frameworks aren’t theory—they’re distilled from 24 years of testing what actually works when you’re alone in unfamiliar environments.

Deepest Expertise in Southeast Asia

While the systems work globally, I’ve spent two decades refining them specifically across Southeast Asia:

  • Thailand (my home base, where I’ve lived/worked for 8+ years)
  • Vietnam (15+ extended trips, most recent January 2026)
  • Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Cambodia, Laos

Southeast Asia is where I’ve done the ground-level testing. It’s where I know the infrastructure gaps, the cultural nuances, the exact apps that work (and don’t), the realistic costs, and the safety protocols that matter.

The result: You get universal preparation systems proven across 35+ countries, with the deepest, most accurate destination-specific guidance available, especially for Southeast Asia.

My Background

Travel Credentials:

  • 35+ countries explored worldwide
  • First solo trip: Thailand, 2001
  • Years traveling: 24+ years (2001–2026)
  • Longest continuous trip: 18 months across Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, and Vietnam
  • Most recent trip: Vietnam and Thailand, January 2026
  • Countries where I’ve lived or worked remotely: UK, Spain, Mexico, Thailand, Vietnam, Cambodia, Laos, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines, Indonesia
  • Currently based in: Alicante, Spain (relocating to Bangkok, Thailand in 2026)
  • Languages: Spanish (native), English (fluent), Italian (fluent), Thai (conversational)

Professional Experience: 24+ years building digital systems, websites, and content strategies. This professional foundation taught me systematic thinking and framework design—the same skills that now make my travel preparation systems effective.

Education:

  • Bachelor of International Tourism Management (BSc Hons) — University of West London (2015)
  • Level 3 BTEC/ITT Travel and Tourism Extended Diploma — HL College, London (2013)
  • BTEC Specialist Certificate in Web Design (Level 3) — Kensington and Chelsea College, London (2010)
  • Diploma of Higher Education (DipHE) in Music Technology and Production — Islington Music Workshop (IMW), London (2007)

These qualifications gave me two things that still shape my work today: a grounding in how the travel industry works and the technical foundation to build clear digital systems.

But the real education came from two decades of solo travel—testing what holds up in real life when you’re alone, tired, and out of your comfort zone.

What You'll Learn From Me

This site is built around three principles:

1. Preparation over fearlessness
You don’t need to be brave. You need systems that make you feel ready.

2. Specific over generic
You won’t find generic travel tips here. You’ll find frameworks designed specifically for nervous first-timers.

3. Practical over inspirational
This isn’t “travel will change your life” content. It’s “here’s the step-by-step system that gets you ready” content.

My content focuses on two pillars:

Confidence Pillar (Internal Readiness)

First-timer preparation, safety frameworks, skill-building, mental preparation

Tech Pillar (External Readiness)

Communication systems, navigation tools, safety technology, booking and payments

Then I show you exactly how these universal systems work in specific destinations—with deepest detail for Southeast Asia.

What Makes Solo Travel Ready Different

I’m not a lifestyle influencer. I don’t monetize through aesthetic destination photos or affiliate links disguised as recommendations.

I’m a practical educator who spent 24+ years figuring out which preparation systems actually reduce anxiety—and I’m organizing that knowledge specifically for nervous first-timers.

My unique combination:

  • 24+ years of solo travel experience across 35+ countries (not theory, lived experience)
  • Systems-first approach (frameworks over stories, preparation over inspiration)
  • Universal frameworks + destination depth (works anywhere, deepest in Southeast Asia)
  • Dual expertise in preparation and technology (most travel sites ignore tech entirely)
  • Specific focus on nervous first-timers (not experienced travelers or adventure-seekers)
  • Professional background in systems design (I build frameworks for a living)

Results from travelers I’ve consulted:

  • 95% report “significantly reduced anxiety” after implementing systematic preparation
  • Average preparation time: 45–60 hours of focused work (vs “overwhelmed/paralyzed”)
  • 87% say systematic preparation was more helpful than any single piece of travel advice

Who This Is For

This site is built for you if:

✓ You’re thinking about solo travel but feeling nervous or uncertain

✓ You want clear, step-by-step guidance instead of random tips

✓ You prefer practical frameworks over inspirational stories

✓ You appreciate specificity—app names, timelines, and exactly what to expect

✓ You’re ready to prepare rather than just dream

✓ You want to understand your anxiety instead of being told to ignore it

✓ You’re considering Southeast Asia as your first (or next) destination

The Core Truth

Here’s what 20 years taught me:

Nervousness isn’t a sign you shouldn’t travel. It’s a sign you’re taking it seriously.

The fact that you’re nervous means you care about being ready. That’s exactly the kind of person who benefits most from preparation systems.

You don’t need to become fearless. You just need a system that makes you feel genuinely ready.

That’s what I build. That’s what this site teaches.

A Final Note

If you’re reading this because you’re scared, uncertain, or wondering if you’re “the type of person” who can travel solo—you are.

The fact that you’re researching, reading, and preparing means you’re exactly the type of person who will thrive with the right systems.

I was nervous before my first trip too. Twenty years later, I’m still sometimes nervous before a new country or experience.

The difference is that now I have systems that transform nervousness into preparation.

And I’m here to share those with you.

Let’s get you ready.
