Hi, I'm Zisco

I'm the person behind Solo Travel Ready. I write every guide here for the people who want to travel alone to Southeast Asia and aren’t sure they're ready.

Where this started

My first solo trip was a long, nervous journey through Southeast Asia with a backpack and one question: can I actually do this alone? I got a lot wrong. I also learned that the people who look confident on the road aren’t braver than anyone else. They simply have a few things figured out before they arrive: how they’ll get from the airport, how they’ll pay for things, what they’ll do if a plan falls apart.

That’s what I try to put into every guide: the things I wish someone had walked me through before that first trip.

Why I built this site

Most advice about solo travel either tells you to stop worrying and just go, or buries you in so much information you never start. I wanted a place with a clear starting point, plain-language guidance, and a way to move forward one small step at a time.

I focus on Southeast Asia because it’s the region I know best, so that’s where the guidance goes deepest, beginning with Thailand. The general method works wherever your first trip takes you.

What you'll find here

  • Guides that tell you what to do next, not just what to think about
  • A method you can follow at your own pace
  • Honest, calm advice that treats nerves as normal, not as a problem to hide
  • Real, human-written guidance, with a person you can reach if you have a question

Who this is for

Anyone planning a first solo trip who feels excited and unsure at the same time. If that’s you, you’re in the right place.

It means this matters to you.”
